How to Install and Activate Akismet Anti-Spam Plugin in WordPress?
WordPress is one of the famous and most-picked web application software to manage website. This is because of the features that does not only simplifies user work to improve the presentation of the website but also help in maintaining the website security.

But one of the thing related to WordPress blog that cannot be ignored is the spam comments. It does not depend on what is the purpose of your WordPress website, you have to make strategies to deal with number of spam comments on your WordPress blog. These spam comments not only affect your ranking on search engines but also impact your WordPress website as well. So, considering this I’ve decided to share my knowledge with all that how can you stop spam comments on your WordPress blog.
As I’ve said earlier, WordPress provides several features to manage the security of the website too. Here also, we will use Akismet Anti-Spam, a plugin that is used to protect your blog from spam.
Akismet Anti-Spam is used by millions of users to protect their blog from spam. It is pre-installed in WordPress but if not installed then you can do it easily with the given steps and then Activate to make it work.
#Install and Activate Akismet Anti-Spam Plugin
- Login to your WordPress dashboard.
- Click over Plugins and then select Add New.
- On the next page, search for Akismet and then Install Now to install the plugin.
- Now, click over Activate and proceed.
- Set up your Akismet account.
- Select the plan on the next page as per your requirement and upgrade it as well if required in future.
- On the next page, you have to enter the details. Here, you can set up your plan using the sliding bar on the right.
*I choose the price to be zero as I’m using it for testing purpose.
- Enter confirmation code that will receive to entered email address and Continue.
- After completing the Signup, login to your Akismet dashboard and follow the steps as directed in the image.
- Login to Akismet as directed.
- Now, check your email to login.
- You will be successfully logged in to Akismet dashboard. Copy the Akismet API key.
- Now, go back to WordPress dashboard and then inside Plugins section.
- Select Installed Plugins and then get into Settings section of Akismet plugin as given.
- Click over Manually enter an API key.
- Paste the API key and then Connect with API key.
- On the next page, click over Save Changes.
